Suzaku Seishi - Hotohori Hotohori is one of the seven star warriors of Suzaku, the God of the Southern Realm. As one of the Suzaku Seishi, his destiny, as foretold in the legend of Suzaku, is to protect the Suzaku no Miko. Hotohori belongs in the Hydra constellation and his seishi symbol is the character 'sei', meaning "Star"; and it is located on the left side of his neck. Even though Hotohori learned his sword skills at a young age, Suzaku's powers enhanced his sword skills. Now he is able to create barriers("kekkai") and use telekinesis by drawing on his 'chi.' He is also the emporer of Kutou. As an emporer, he ascended the throne at the age of fourteen when his father died. He was well-trained as an excellent swordsman and talented at all subjects. Hotohori is also a kind and gentle emporer for Konan. When he was young, Hotohori had learned the legend of the Suzaku no miko, and the symbol that will appear on the neck of the crown prince. Hotohori was very lonely when his mother died, and so he hoped that the Suzaku no miko would love him for not just as an emporer, but that she would fall in love with him. Hotohori is one of the most beautiful men in Anime. Also, probably the most beautiful emporer that ever lived. He is often mistaken as a girl, but he doesn't care much for that because the others around him knows he's beautiful. Hotohori often likes to tease his ministers by his infamous(or famous?) phrase, "I'm so beautiful, it's scary." Hotohori is not only a good emporer, but a great father. Before he died, his wife Houki had given birth to the young prince of Konan, Boushin. Even though Hotohori died, his spirit still lives. In the OVAs, "Silent Child", he wasn't able to touch or feel his son because he was a spirit. But his spirit is able to possess his child's(scary part, but very cute). In the end, when he left his son and his wife, he told Boushin to grow up fast so Boushin can take over the throne in place of Hotohori. There's a phrase used in China, saying that a kingdom shouldn't have no emporer. Not only is Hotohori a great father, a great emporer, but also a great husband. He loves Houki and has never married anyone else besides her(yes, of course, he DID die. But still, even if he didn't die, he still wouldn't marry anyone else besides Houki--unless someone really awesome appears). As an emporer, he can have as many wives as he wants to(actually, they have to have this certain amount of wives...freaky), but he didn't marry more than just one. Hotohori's Links Wish Upon a Star: Tribute to Hotohori My feelings about Hotohori First, I like Miaka's personality for choosing Tamahome; and that Miaka's got guts to turn down an emporer. I didn't care greatly for Hotohori at first, but he is still a great emporer. To me, then, he was JUST an emporer. But as I watch more and more Fushigi Yugi, I begin to like Hotohori and Nuriko better than Tamahome & Miaka. One of Hotohori's songs, "Within my Universe, There is you", has great words and the video has great scenes. When Tamahome was drugged by kodoku, Hotohori fought Tamahome--one on one(of course, their fighting moves doesn't look too great, but...it's really good for a cartoonist/animation person). Though Miaka loves Tamahome so much, Hotohori was still caring and loving Miaka the same--just like before he knew Miaka only had Tamahome in her heart. Hotohori is a great emporer, and also very *very* VERY beautiful(**drool**).
